Costa Rica vacations?

Where is a nice place to visit in Costa Rica? I’d love a nice small resort or retreat that includes yoga and would love to be able to see some of the country.

Costa Rica is a great country to travel around on a road trip. If you can afford it I recommend a 4wd, if not you wont miss that much but will certainly have to drive a lot slower in many areas as many roads are dirt and have big potholes.
I ve only ever been to one Yoga resort in CR. Found it by accident as thats were the the road ends on the SW conor of the Osa peninsula, its paradise heres their web site V http://www.lunalodge.com/
but if you do a search for Yoga in Costa Rica there are tons of others that look great as well, and the South is nowhere near as interesting as the middle north and the Nicoya Penisula in the NW.
If its your first trip, I would recommend you leave San Jose immediately and head north and visit the local volcanos. Then go to Fontana which is a touristy town at the base of Volcan Arenal.
Its active and you can see it light up at night but its often cloudy so its hit or miss if you stay in Fontana. There are two hotels right at the base where you are almost certain of seeig the nightly light show but they are a little pricey and will need a 4wd to get there or park your car in Fontana and they can pick you up.
From there drive around lake Arenal quite pretty and have lunch in Tilaran, a picturesque old city on you way to the Nicoya penisula-There are plenty of Yoga resorts on the Nicoya, and tons of beach resort areas from 5 Star to hippiesque. Tons of water sports etc there, but just so you know its more tropical desert like than the mountian you will have traveled throught get there but great fun. On the way back take the route from Canas through Monteverde otherwise know as the cloud forest. There is an amzing stretch of road for about 40 miles that twist and turn on the side of a mountain where there will a full rainbow if not a double that looks to be 100 feet in front of you… but you can never catch, every turn a new one comes into view, its jsut incredible.
Have fun!

AHHHH I can’t wait to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thailand, India, Cambodia, Philippines, Mexico, CostaRica. For Pain Management
It would be nice to know about pain management doctors, Hospitals in any of these countries.
I do know about drug addict clinics but it is doughtful they will take pain management cases so any help on doctors, hospitals . Thank You in advance.

Methadone is Methamphetamine Amphetamine base and it is not found in the latest edition of MIMS. Most likely it is not sold in the Philippines and should it be sold it will require Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Dangerous Drug Board clearance which I do not think they will approve its distribution and sale since it can cause addiction. Methadone is used to treat Addiction, and in the wrong hands it will cause more problems than solutions. I am sure drugs that are already approved by the said agencies are more than enough to be used by Medical Professionals to treat drug addiction in rehab centers. Should you be admitted don’t worry they will give you plenty of beating that you probably would not need Methadone to relief you of the pain.

Also is it safe to drive. How is the border crossing. I will be returning the car form where I picked it up.

If you rent a car from any rental agency, you must ask them if it is permitted to drive the car up to Costa Rica.

Here are just a few names of agencies:

Avis – - – - – > > > > > www.avis.com

For this trip I plan on renting a car. How are driving conditions along the Pan American highway, especially during the rainy season (July-August), as I would like to go back to San Jose from the Quepos area via Dominical and then by Cerros de la Muerte. I hear this road washes out occasionally.

You have to be very careful when driving in the rainy season, usually there are many potholes and the road may become slippery. Cerro de la Muerte (Death hill) is famous for its dangerous roads.
This is a very good site for Costa Rica maps:

Good luck!
Pura vida!

Does anyone know a good city in Costa Rica to build a theme park in? It has to have low crime rate, good tourism, sights and such. Good weather. Can anyone tell me one and perhaps list reasons if possible or sites?

san antonio, belen next to the hwy, marriott hotel, firestone, coca cola… area. its in the middle of the central valley… not including cartago. people from san jose, heredia, alajuela, santa ana can travel easilly, its close to the airport, would be next to the busiest hwy. buses pass by in all directions… the weather is great. any one will see it cuz is on the way to the pacific beaches

I am traveling to Costa Rica for about five days and i am curious as to how much I should expect to spend. I plan on buying drinks at the bar and partying in addition to things like ATVs or Jet Skis. How much should I expect to spend. I already covered air fare and hotel so I am referring to spending change.

Hi,

If you’ve got all the essentials covered, no more than $1500. And even that will be more than enough!

However, you might as well have a great time.

ATV is around $100, jet skiing $130. Most tours range from $50-150.

Depending on the area your bar bill and restaurant bill can compare to US prices.

Hope this helps,

I am a student and cannot afford to purchase a roundtrip ticket at this time. I need to buy now before the price goes up. Also, does it look suspicious to buy a second one-way ticket out when I can afford it? I’m scared of being detained! What will they say??
Can I have a bus ticket as evidence of my outbound travel?

If you are an American citizen, see site below and read under "Entry Requirements" to see that you are required to have a round trip or onward ticket in order to enter Costa Rica.
