Hey guys, Im DAngelo from http://TravelCostaRicaNow.com and today I have another travel tip for you todays travels tip is going to be about transportation. More specifically driving transportation driving from San Jose, Costa Rica all the way up here to the La Fortuna area, which is home to the Arenal Volcano, which is constantly erupting, which is why most of you come out here in hopes to see lava. So, if we can zoom on in to this map Ill walk you through on how to get from San Jose to La Fortuna.
As you can see San Jose is down here and up here to the north is the Arenal Volcano and right next to the Arenal Volcano is the town of La Fortuna which well be headed to today. Now, Costa Ricas not really known for their street names for instant if you look at this map here this main road that well be taking out of San Jose On one map it will be called the Inner-American highway, and on another map it might be called the Pan-American highway, and on a third map it will be labeled highway #1. So, for reference for this video and so you can fallow along better regardless to what map you have Im not going to label any of the roads that are on the map, and Im just going to let you know as far as how many miles to a certain point or the towns youll be passing through now the drive from San Jose to La Fortuna is anywhere from 3 hours to 3 ½ hours. Now Id recommend if possible to drive to La Fortuna in the morning, because later in the late afternoon and early evening those roads have been known to have heavy fog which reduces your visibility tremendously. Umm also there are three different routes to get to La Fortuna from San Jose so Ill be going through all three routes.

I am on vacation in Costa Rica and would like to bring some cute alcohol bottles home with me for souveniers for friends and family. I know there is a limit on how much I can bring in without having to pay taxes or without getting in trouble but I am having trouble finding that information. Any help would be much appreciated.

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica sometime at the end of January. We would love some advice on places to stay, things to see and do. We are going to go for 10 days and will be staying at some point at The Sanctuary resort and Spa in Playa Azul (Pacific Coast). We would also like to stay at the Tree House Hotel in Muelle San Carlos. So, we need some places to visit along the way and maybe a place to stay for a night or two.

There’sn a lot of things to see and do in Costa Rica. Some highlights:

Monteverde cloud forest preserve- beautiful cool misty lush cloud forest
Arenal volcano- well, its a frequently erupting volcano you can watch.
Manuel Antonio and Carara national parks- beautiful jungle beaches and huge lowland forest with great wildlife, respectively.
Corcovado national park- a little remote, but has the best wildlife and jungle in costa rica.

Don’t be worried by some of the other comments. There may be a few places where the animals are fed by humans where they are aggressive, but I lived in the country for a year and saw thousands of animals and never saw any aggressive behavior, except I would advise you not to stand directly under howler monkeys because they tend to urinate when they sense intruders.

Most water in the country is drinkable, but I would advise caution in some of the small towns. In general the country is fairly clean and safe by third world standards, but there are bad neighborhoods and towns like anywhere.

I’m thinking of investing in a piece of porperty and am interested in other’s opinion of the area and surrounding activities.

Ooo oo I have been there!!!! I went to school in Guanacaste for 5th grade. Now i am in eighth. I loved it there. I don’t really know anything about investing but we rented an apartment in Flamingo. Good Luck and Merry Christmas!

I’ve spent alot of time in Costa Rica and I’ll tell you straight up. If you can speak Spanish fluently and English as well you can find a job paying you cash under the table. Granted the Costa Ricans don’t make much money because it is a 3rd world country, you might make 2-4 dollars an hour depending on the deal you work out. Remember unless you are a citizen your visa only lasts for 90 days and you have to leave the country for 72 hours before you can return, but all you have to really do is go to Panama or Nicaragua for 3 days and then come back. Good luck.
