Top Beaches in Costa Rica

The beaches and all inclusive resorts in Costa Rica have never been better. This country is an absolute paradise because it encompasses breathtaking beaches and resorts that is definitely the best for tourists going on a family vacation, couple leaving for their honeymoon, nature travel and tour and so much more! Costa Rica beaches and resort is open for everyone as it reaches out to over 1800 km. Depending on your preference you can choose which of these beaches or resorts you’re interested in. Some have rocky and rough beaches, sandy beaches, and gray and black sand beaches. With the east bounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean in the west, this country’s beaches rank among the best in the world. The Manuel Antonio beaches encompass some of the most breathtaking white sand beaches in the country coupled with evergreen forestation. Despite its being the smallest national park in the country, many tourists just keep coming back because of its exceptionally pristine beaches and tropical rainforests. It consists of 1700 acres of land mass and 135, 906 acres that’s protected for marine reserve. Located about 100 miles south of San Jose and Quepos, it lures about 150, 000 tourists per year. The Manuel Antonio was declared a national park in 1972 and since then it is considered the natural habitat for species including the white faced capuchin monkey, endangered squirrel monkey, raccoons, sloths, pelicans, black-collared hawks and kingfishers. The Playa Conchal in Costa Rica also known the Paradisus Playa Conchal is another famous hotel in the coast. Considered as one of the most expensive hotels, it may not be a backpacker’s preference especially if you’re on a controlled budget but if the cost is not an issue then definitely this is the right place for you. With some of the clearest waters, snorkeling is one of the most popular past time. Its waters houses a superb collection of marine life where one can get a clear view of various tropical fish and even stingrays that dwell there. For those who are more into adventure, the popular water activities include scuba diving, deep sea fishing, surfing, etc. Most tourists usually travel to go surfing and the Playa Grande in to Costa Rica is a great destination for excellent surfing. Unlike Playa Tamarindo, the Playa Grande is found to be a lot isolated but for most tourists the breaks and swells is still comparable to that of Tamarindo. This is best for those who want to take a break from the crowd but still enjoy the tranquility, nature attractions and spectacular surf. If you’re not into surfing, their water is still a splendid source of excitement and fun. Another famous tourist destination for great surfing and swimming is the Playa Hermosa Beach in Costa Rica. It offers visitors crystal clear blue waters and superb panorama. Tourist ought to know though that there are two beaches named Hermosa. One is situated in Guanacaste while the other lies in Puntarenas. The one in Puntarenas is considered one of the best surfing spots and is quite visited by many tourists. The Hermosa in Guanacaste is just about 20 minutes from the International Airport in Liberia.

Exotic tourist destinations in Costa Rica are absolutely great for rainforest vacations especially for nature lovers who are just as excited to explore the plethora of plants and animal species in the country. Most of the area in Costa Rica is known to be surrounded by evergreen and lush forestation. As one of the most bio-diverse destination, Costa Rica rain forest offers lush and verdant plants throughout the year. Avid nature lovers wouldn’t be able to resist the wide array of animal species that they can find almost anywhere in this country. These reserves have created the best habitat for mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fishes. Costa Rican rain forest is also known as cloud forest in Costa Rica. Monteverde is perhaps one of the top tourist spots that are almost found in every single travel website that features the best places to go once you visit Costa Rica. Santa Elena and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is the perfect destination for avid nature lovers. It encompasses more than a hundred species of mammals, about four hundred species of birds, two thousand five hundred species plant and more than ten thousand species of insects. The resplendent quetzal is the primary reason why most tourists frequently visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. In fact, the quetzal can be seen during its nesting season which from March to April. Let’s not forget to mention the Manuel Antonio National Park which is another famous destination to witness the spectacular beauty of Costa Rica nature. It is perhaps considered the most popular and visited tourist spot in the country. It was built back in 1972 and started off with an area of 682 hectares that allows it to be the tiniest but most diverse national parks in the country. What’s really noteworthy about this park is because it showcases magnificent beaches and especially lush rainforests. Located in the Puntarenas Province along the central coast of Costa Rica, it’s considered really accessible by bus or car when you travel to other top tourist destinations namely Jaco. Jaco which is another famous beach in Costa Rica is located only 69 km from the south. The Manuel Antonio Park is also 7 km from Quepos is also a town where tourists receive a wide a selection of hotels and resorts, accommodations and restaurants. Also one of the best places that depict the Costa Rican nature is the Tortuguero National Park which also features Costa Rican rainforests and is another tourist destination but not really as visited compared to the Manuel Antonio National Park. However, one of its best highlights is the significant turtle nesting site in Costa Rica where the endangered green turtle settles. It is located about fifty miles north of Puerto Limon. It is also interesting to know that more than 22 miles of beach strip from the mouth of the Tortuguero river is considered protected. Extending about 19,000 hectares, it is primarily the nesting site for leatherback sea turtles, hawsbill sea turtles and of course, the loggerhead sea turtles. Other creature you’ll see in this park includes jaguars, monkeys, macaws, tapirs, different bird types, reptiles and other mammals. There’s certainly a huge amount of beautiful Costa Rican rainforests that are waiting to be explored and relished once you visit Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, the Manuel Antonio National Park and of course, the Tortuguero National Park. Tourists can witness not only the Costa Rica rain forest plethora of living things but also experience thrilling adventures such as the Sky Trek, canyoning, zip lining, horseback riding and so much more!

Panama Vs Costa Rica – The Panama Collection

When you think about living full or part time in Central America, Costa Rica seems to be the first country that comes to mind. Having spent a fair amount of time in both Costa Rica and Panama, I may be able to offer a somewhat unique perspective when comparing the two countries. While both countries are similar in many respects, there are some major differences that you should be aware of. First of all, there are many similarities. Both Panama and Costa Rica have mountains, oceans, beaches, volcanoes, tropical rain forests, zip line and eco tours, hot springs and exotic wildlife. Both countries have more residents who speak English in the bigger cities, while very little English is spoken in the more remote areas. Both countries have similar temperate climates, and both are quite beautiful. I honestly can’t think of a single good thing about Costa Rica that you can’t also find in Panama. Now let’s talk about the differences, and they are significant: Roads: Costa Rica is famous for its bad roads, and they are terrible. Some of the main roads are so bad that they are nearly impassable. Panama’s main roads are all paved and relatively pothole-free . President Martinelli has made a major road building commitment throughout the country, which has already resulted in an even better road system. Cost of goods: Panama is a big winner here. Thanks to the Panama Canal and its huge port, manufactured goods are much less expensive in Panama. Household appliances, electronics, building materials, almost everything is more expensive in Costa Rica. I haven’t had any experience buying cars in Costa Rica, but I’ve heard from reliable sources that Costa Rica has a huge tax on automobiles that I know for a fact Panama doesn’t have. Apparently a $20,000 car in Panama would cost around $35,000 in Costa Rica. Currency: Again, Panama comes out ahead. The official currency in Panama is the Balboa, which is tied directly to the U. S. dollar. The paper money (one dollar bill and up) is all U. S. currency, and there is no exchange rate. The currency in Costa Rica is the colon, and exchange rates fluctuate on a regular basis. You need to constantly change your U. S. money into colones, bring a calculator everywhere you go, and always be aware of locals trying to take advantage of you. Financials transactions of any kind are much easier in Panama. Capital Cities: When you fly into San Jose, Costa rica, it feels like you’ve landed in a third world ghetto, but when you fly into Panama City you feel like you’ve arrived to a modern, cosmopolitan metropolis. It’s really about that simple – the difference between the two cities is staggering. San Jose is a dirty, dangerous place with about four street signs in the entire city. Panama City has dozens of gleaming new skyscrapers and is in an obvious phase of progressive expansion. One reason that Panama City is light years ahead of San Jose is the fact that the U. S. was actively involved in the Canal until 1999, so the infrastructure is surprisingly modern. It’s not a coincidence that a Trump Tower is going up in Panama City, but not in San Jose. On a side note, I have found the people in Panama City to be much friendlier and more helpful than those in San Jose. Crime: No contest here; Costa Rica has a much higher rate of crime. Armed robberies, carjackings and other violent crimes occur far more frequently in Costa Rica. In 2007 the U. S. State Department designated Costa Rica as a “high crime rate country” for tourists (http://www. osac. gov/Reports/report. cfm?contentID=62156). While these crimes do occur in Panama, the incidence is much lower and they occur primarily in the Canal Zone, between Panama City and Colon. I’ve been living part time in Santiago (three hours west of Panama City) for over two years, and nobody I’ve talked to has ever heard of a murder, armed robbery, or even a mugging. I’ve left tools and work boots outside of my house for weeks at a time, and I’ve never had anything stolen. This would be unheard of in Costa Rica, where theft is a common, everyday occurrence. Real Estate: Let’s save the best for last; you can purchase land in Panama for a fraction of what it would cost you in Costa Rica. For example, the same five acre mini ranch with ocean views and riverfront that I’m selling in Panama for around $90,000 would cost more than $500,000 in Costa Rica. Land in Costa Rica is roughly five times more expensive than comparable land in Panama. Another big difference between the countries involves squatters. In Costa Rica if you buy land and squatters move onto it, in three months they actually have legal rights to your property, and protracted legal action is required to get rid of them. Incredible, but true. In Panama, squatters have no legal rights of any kind. If you buy land in Panama, leave it alone for ten years, and upon your return people are living on it, you can have them removed immediately. Having spent about half of my time in Panama over the last two years, I was initially puzzled by the fact that the interior of the country is so far behind Costa Rica in terms of real estate development. It is a vastly superior country to Costa Rica (for the aforementioned reasons), and when I started inquiring as why this was the case I kept getting back a one word response – “Noriega. ” Up until 1990, when he was forcefully removed from power, Noriega had a stranglehold on the country, and he allowed very little development from outside investors. That was only 20 years ago, and Panama has been catching up ever since. There are some popular, well developed places in Panama. Panama City itself (as well as the entire Canal Zone), Valle de Anton, and Boquete are probably the better known areas. They all have large “gringo” communities, and prime land is often well in excess of $100/meter squared (the way land is measured in Panama). In my opinion, by far the best area in Panama in terms of future growth potential is the western slope of the Azuero peninsula. Located on the Pacific side of Panama about three hours from Panama City, there is a new (completed four years ago) paved road that runs the entire length of the coastline, ending at the Cerro Hoya National Park. The land is beautiful, the views are outstanding, and it is very early in the development cycle. At present there are no large projects in the area, but there will be. I believe that marinas, hotels, large housing projects, etc will all happen in the next several years. One can look at Ocean Ridge Estates to get a feel for the low prices that are available in the area. I have 16 mini ranches between 3 and 12 acres, most of which have riverfront and ocean views. The purchase price of $5. 00/meter squared includes water, electric, a road to each lot, and full title, as well as any assistance needed in the building of a house. This is one of the best values in Panama, if not the best. I think the facts speak for themselves. If you visit both countries you’ll find out for yourself that Panama is far superior to Costa Rica for many reasons. Do your research, and you should come to the conclusion that Ocean Ridge Estates on the Azuero peninsula is one of the best values in the entire country of Panama. Before You Travel to Beautiful Costa Rica

Looking for a tropical beach side cottage to spend your vacation or honeymoon? Online companies offer romantic honeymoon getaways with beaches that stretch for miles, jungle rivers for rafting and kayaking, and spectacular cloud and rain forests with opportunities for bird watching and hiking. Having just returned from Costa Rica myself, I would like to offer some practical advice that you probably won’t find in the guide books. When we planned our trip, we assumed that most people in Costa Rica would understand English fairly well. At several hotels, the front desk clerks spoke practically no English. The same goes for bus drivers. The staff at the Costa Rica Car Rental agency spoke the best English. They were able to give us directions to Sarchi, known throughout Costa Rica for its intricate arts and crafts. Prepare yourself by learning key phrases such as “Donde está el banco” (Where is the bank), “Estoy buscando un restaurante” (I am looking for a restaurant), and “Donde está el cuarto de baño” (Where is the bathroom). The Pan American Highway runs through Costa Rica and is a reliable, well-paved road. However, many side roads in Costa Rica are very bad and full of deep potholes. I guarantee that you have never seen a pothole in your life like the ones in Costa Rica. I recommend that when you rent a car, take out the full coverage (usually an additional $20 per day on top of the regular fee). When you take the side roads, you need to allow more time to reach your destination. In some cases you may be only going 20-25 miles per hour. Colones are the national currency and are very easy to translate into American dollars. If an item says 5,000 colones, just drop the 3 zeros and multiply the other number by 2. In other words, 5,000 colones is equal to 10 American dollars. If you need to convert other currency into colones, you can do that with an online currency converter. The rainy season in Costa Rica runs from May through December, but don’t let that stop you. Hotels are cheaper and there is less traffic and fewer people in the restaurants. Many times you will find that you are the ONLY people in the restaurant. My husband and I traveled in September, and experienced rain on only a few days of our trip. It would rain heavily for about one hour and then stop completely. We would spend the time indoors having a lovely Costa Rican lunch, and by the time we finished our gallon pinto, the rain was gone. Bring a good camera and lots of film. Because of the rain, you will see some of the most beautiful exotic plants and over thirteen hundred species of orchids. The size and rumbling of the Poas Volcano will take your breath away. Waterfalls, like those near La Fortuna, are located off of the side roads, so drive slowly and allow more time. Even in the cities, you will want to photograph the brightly colored houses and ornate wrought iron that covers all the windows and patios in beautiful Costa Rica.
