MegaMel on “Why Use a GPS For Riding To Panama”
MegaMel rides his VStrom to Panama with Sandie and talks about using a GPS along the way. I bought BICI Mapas Mexico maps and Central America maps (two separate products) and installed them on Micro SD cards to use in my Garmin 60 CX GPS. I had previously used the Mexico maps but only bought the Central America map a week before riding down. I don’t know how I would have made it to Panama without it. I’m sure I would have been asking directions a thousand times without it. Even though the Central America map is far from complete, it was a “life-saver”. Often, I would simply do a “Find” – select the city, and simply follow the purple line. Sometimes I would locate a place on the map (coordinating with the maps in my guidebook), then place a waypoint there. Next, I’d use the Find/ Go To, to draw the purple line to follow. It worked great!

Hi, We made it back …
Hi, We made it back into Costa Rica today. Much easier border crossing than coming down. Yes, I’ve been doing routes for my hikes in CO and it works great on the PC. Thanks a bunch for your inputs, MegaMel
