You can even obtain silencers for your handguns in Finland unrestricted.

Abortion and gay marriage is legal in the United States too. So what are you trying to get at? State’s have the right to create their own laws, but abortion and gay marriage are both legal at the federal level just like in Norway or Sweden. Also state’s have the right to pass laws abolishing capital punishment if they so choose. State’s can also create universal healthcare programs and would run more efficiently at the state level than the federal level.

Socialism (which even if you throw in the word "democracy" at the end of it doesn’t change anything) has brought on Italian Fascism, the German Nazi Party, COMMUNISM, and a multitude of other societies that seemed great and all – with the exception of personal liberties being crushed for the sake of a central, godhead government. If anything we need to CHANGE in the direction AWAY from SOCIALISM. Universal Health Care seems nice . . . if you take into account that:

1) I’ll have to pay for everyone and their uncle to get health care when my own father can barely survive after having a heart attack simply because he makes more than 30k a year.
2) If I get cancer, I’ll have to wait anywhere in excess of nine months to finally get treatment . . . sure hope the cancer understands that and lets me live long enough.

The European socialist countries will fall and so will America, simply because we are starting to pull the same tricks as the EU. America could have worked, if it weren’t for "Progressive" idealists like Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and you.

Our social spending goes to minorities and the poor, while theirs goes to things that help all people in their daily lives. We have a much larger income gap. First let me just say small countries can work with a mixed model of social democracy. large countries wont. Norway? less than 5M people Sweden about 9m people? France 64M the only one of any size and its about 1/5 the pop of the usa.

Ok heres what matters. Immigration. This is major reason that will not work here. the amount of immigrants to the USA each year (legal and illegal ) would almost equal Norways entire population ( thats every year )
Immigrants, by the nature of almost all of them being poor will be on some form of assistance through government programs. This creates a ratio of burden on the system economically ( not to mention infrastructure, crime and education ) that those countries you mention do ‘not’ have to deal with.

Furthermore while you can quote the ones you want, the england doesnt have guns but has plenty of gun crimes.

And the USA already does have some socialistic components already, medicare, medicaid, social security to name a few. And wouldnt ya know it… all 3 of those are underperforming, mismanaged messes that are running out of money.

europes populations are dwindling.. while the usa’s population is growing ( due to immigration mostly ). this is the key difference and the reason why it would be a big mistake to take on those policies.
