Where to stay with a family of 5 in Costa Rica? What area? A rental house or resort for your 1s trip?
We would be departing from New Orleans trip would be one week or more.
Went to the Pacific side (Gulf of Papagayo) of Costa Rica about 5 years ago and stayed at the Blue Bay resort (don’t know if it is still under that name). Had a really good time there, staff was friendly, food was great (became really fond of Costa Rican pineapple and Costa Rican coffee), and the resort had nice dinner shows; not much of a beach and poor snorkeling. I do think staying at a resort is definitely a better way of meeting other people if that’s important to you. One of the couples my brother and I met actually purchased a timeshare condo close to the resort they had such a good time. If interested, I’ll see if I can get their e-mail info from my brother.

I ALWAYS stay at homes when traveling – especially if you have a family – you can rent houses on VRBO.com – private homes – the cheapest and best with best locations. If you require pampering and tours I would go for a resort.
