Can I take a machete home from costa rica in a checked bag?
I wan to buy a machete in costa rica, but I dont know how I can get it home. Is it legal to take big-ass knives home on a plane in a checked bag? Should I mail it, instead?

the metal detectors would pick it up in the airport. I would mail it, but I don’t know if that is legal either

As long as it is in checked luggage it should be OK. After all, you can take guns in checked bags. Check with the airline to be sure.

Yes if it is a checked bag. Im going to Guatemala and Im taking a big hunting knife in my checked bag plus a malty tool .

You have to declare it as a weapon when you check your bags.. Paperwork and ID’s etc.
