a fairer distributions of spots to the world cup.?

yeah sure, asia is the biggest continent, but just because of that fact they deserve 5 spots to the world cup????? how many of you enjoy to see saudi arabia, japan, china, and iran in the world cups????

the same goes to the concacaf’s region, yeah sure, that region has a lot of countries and islands, but just because of it, they deserve 4 spots to the world cup? do you enjoy having to see mexico, costarica and jamaica in every world cup??????

I believe this would be a fairer distribution of spots to the world cup:

Europe : 18 spots
South america: 9 spots
Africa: 4 spots..

now concacaf and asia could have a play off to decide the last spot to the world cup.

That actually sounds fair. Does that add up to 32?

    This is mine:
Asia is big, but only need 4 spots (2 from Middle East and 2 from Far East).
South America should get 6 (or 5). 9 is too much. That’s like giving 17 to North America.
Speaking of that, CONCACAF should get about 3 (or 4) because the there would be the main two, Mexico and USA, and one (or two)spot up for grabs.
Africa should get 4, (because they’re the hosts) but really that’s only 3 because South Africa is in.
    Australia gets 1, of course.
    That leaves 14 to Europe.

Dude you’re an idiot…and by the way Mexico is one of the countries that makes a lot of money for the FIFA…dude where’s your logic in the things that you’re saying. It’s called the WORLD CUP for a reason. Dude what THE hell…if that’s the case then it should be called the EUROPEAN CUP and the others in f*cking small font. What an idiot! Haha thanks for making me laugh. Haha Perhaps that is why they have the Euro cup? dumbass! So much for “FAIR.”

I can see what your getting at, but I do enjoy seeing Japan and South Korea. After all, South Korea did get to the 2002 semi-finals, after knocking Italy and Spain out.

Yes I do, the World Cup wouldn’t be the same without the Mexicans, and the Jamaican fans also provide a great atmosphere.

The USA usually turn out a decent performance in the World Cup, so there’s atleast three teams I like to see there. Plus another Caribbean island, they go mental when they qualify for a World Cup.

If you have 18 spots for European teams, then it won’t be a World Cup. You will also end up with 4 or 5 teams that are no better than the teams that are already qualifying out of Asia and CONACAF anyway. Europe already has 13 slots as it is.

The big problem with European qualification is the way the groups are drawn. In Group 1, for the 2010 WC, we have Portugal, Sweden and Denmark, then in group 2 we have Greece, Israel and Switzerland.

So in group 1, we will see one or most likely two teams fail to qualify, and we are guaranteed one or possibly two teams which I wouldn’t rate higher than those likely to make it out of CONACAF and Asia, qualifying.
