Details here.. www.costarica-mls.com Chira island is approximately 30 miles in circumference with a population of slightly over 3000 people. It has been inhabited for literally centuries and contains a very colorful chapter in Costa Rica’s past although most Ticos know nothing about the island itself. For the most part, the island has been the “red haired stepchild” in the bay of Nicoya accessible by a few ferries a day from Puntarenas and Costa Pajaros. Surrounding smaller islands such as Venado and San Lucas are better known primarily because they are closer to the more travelled ferries from Puntarenas to the Nicoya Penninsula.
