How do I convince my mom to let me go on a service trip to Costa Rica?
Im 16 and go to a Catholic high school, and i need service hours in the summer, and i think it would be a great oppurtunity to go on this trip, http://www.rusticpathways.com/2008/costarica/cbc.html. i think my mom thinks its too much money, it is 1900 dollars, but i think it would be a great oppurtunity to help out the less fortunate in this world, and at the same time, have a fun experience, with a couple ah my frens. what do i tell her, so that she mite let me go? i am willing to pay for some of it, but i dont have that much money…
(also, whats the drinking age, etc.?)

Listen to your mother, she is absolutely correct, it is too much money. The company you mention is well known and has a reputation in Central and South America as little more than a successful baby sitting service for spoiled teens.Their prices are,in my opinion, obscenely high for what they deliver. If you are truly interested in service hours and sincerely interested in helping the less fortunate, there should be plenty of volunteer opportunities nearer to you and your friends than Costa Rica that wont require $2000 of your parents money.

there are cheaper ways to help here in Costa Rica.
Why dont you just buy a ticket, come down here and talk to some people… they will let you know how to help!. believe me, it should not be that expensive
