Hi, I am Tom, my wife and I are the owners of these houses.
Unless you use metal, there will be wood somewhere in every construction, so you will have to deal with termites any way.
It’s not a big deal as long as you don’t leave the house for a couple of months.
Termites often come just before the rain, after a dry period.
The wood is not treated against termites and we have no problems.

Interesting. Most things I have read strongly advise you against using wood for construction in the Central and South American Countries.
As one guy put it, “the termites carry chainsaws”. Yet that construction looked like beautiful wood construction almost like a cottage or cabin in the United States or Canada yet with a lush tropical surrounding.
Pretty cool. I wonder if the wood was specially treated or if they just deal with the termites.

Georgeos country, fantastic people, but make sure you carry your passport/id with you everywhere/all the time (me and the missis were banged up for day in Peurto Limon in ‘02 whilst backpacking for not having it on us on a bus journey as part of a ‘border jumpers’ crackdown) . Yes, we were suckers, yes, we should have had more sense, but if you are white and backpacking, you will be treated like all the rest (and quite rightly). Highly recommend the country.
