DIRECTIONS from San Jose to La Fortuna/Arenal
Author: admin
Hey guys, Im DAngelo from http://TravelCostaRicaNow.com and today I have another travel tip for you todays travels tip is going to be about transportation. More specifically driving transportation driving from San Jose, Costa Rica all the way up here to the La Fortuna area, which is home to the Arenal Volcano, which is constantly erupting, which is why most of you come out here in hopes to see lava. So, if we can zoom on in to this map Ill walk you through on how to get from San Jose to La Fortuna.
As you can see San Jose is down here and up here to the north is the Arenal Volcano and right next to the Arenal Volcano is the town of La Fortuna which well be headed to today. Now, Costa Ricas not really known for their street names for instant if you look at this map here this main road that well be taking out of San Jose On one map it will be called the Inner-American highway, and on another map it might be called the Pan-American highway, and on a third map it will be labeled highway #1. So, for reference for this video and so you can fallow along better regardless to what map you have Im not going to label any of the roads that are on the map, and Im just going to let you know as far as how many miles to a certain point or the towns youll be passing through now the drive from San Jose to La Fortuna is anywhere from 3 hours to 3 ½ hours. Now Id recommend if possible to drive to La Fortuna in the morning, because later in the late afternoon and early evening those roads have been known to have heavy fog which reduces your visibility tremendously. Umm also there are three different routes to get to La Fortuna from San Jose so Ill be going through all three routes.

Theft and Crime in Costa Rica
Author: admin
Who’s responsible for the majority of theft problems in Costa Rica. Is it as bad as they say, or do the tourists need to wake up and smell the coffee, or maybe just watch their stuff a little better? Check out this video to find out.
The Costa Rica Travel Channel and Travel Costa Rica Now does not wish to scare you. We are merely reminding you of things you forgot you knew when traveling abroad. The majority of crime as it pertains to travelers (petty theft) in Costa Rica, can pretty much be avoided if you just follow of few simple rules. You will notice that these rules pretty much apply to any tourist destination in the world.
Where ever you are at any given time i.e., your surroundings be- attentive, watchful, aware, vigilant, ready to act, observant, on the alert, and on the ball.
So, a guy that makes about a buck an hour sees this video camera sitting on the passenger seat of this car Never leave valuables in plain sight while in your car, even for an minute.
Pickpockets are mostly found in San Jose and they love to use distraction to relieve you of your valuables. Scam- Someone accidentally spills something on you, and someone else playing the good Samaritan quickly arrives to help. Always keep your wallet and passport in your front pockets if you do have to carry your passport.
If a sketchy person approaches your vehicle while you are stopped at a traffic light or sign, sound the car horn and start foaming at the mouth as its all about perception.
When you can avoid it, never carry your passport with you. Instead, make a copy of the front page AND the page that has your entry stamp from immigration on it. This will usually suffice in a pinch.
Just because a person can speak English does not mean they are your friend.

Gaia Hotel Reserve Manuel Antonio Costa Rica
Author: admin
http://TravelCostaRicaNOW.com
Hey Everyone, we got a chance to stay a couple nights at the Gaia Hotel and Reserve in Manuel Antonio Costa Rica. http://GaiaHR.com Folks, this is a 5-Star, ADULT ONLY hotel and resort. Quite funny actually, the night before we were at Tranquilo Backpackers in San Jose- reviewing that and some of the other hostels in the San Jose area. The next night, Gaia in Manuel Antonio. So, does this 5-star hotel live up to its status? I gotta say we were thinking Gaia may be a little pretentious, after all, studio’s and villa’s start at about $220 and go up to about $900. Don’t get me wrong, we appreciate 500,000+ thread count and flat screen tv’s as much as anyone, and they DO have a 12 acre Reserve with rare wildlife and lush vegetation on the property. But what about the pretentiousness? Would they be snooty? Well, Check this video out and see if the Gaia Hotel and Reserve meet OUR standards of 5-Star… without the ATTITUDE.

San Jose Costa Rica Sabana Park
Author: admin
La Sabana Park or Parque La Sabana is easily located on any map of San Jose. It is located at the western end of Paseo Colon. Back in the day this used to be San Jose’s international airport. This is the perfect place to spend the afternoon and immerse yourself in Tico culture as this is the city’s center for active sports and recreation. Here you’ll find everything from jogging trails, soccer fields, basketball courts and even a few public tennis courts. All the facilities in La Sabana are open to the public.
Parque La Sabana is where Tico families gather for picnics, kite flying, fishing and overall socializing with friends and family, and there’s even an outdoor sculpture garden. This is just a GREAT place to experience local culture and maybe even a good reminder on how the simple pleasures in LIFE are often the BEST… there’s not a PlayStation in site.
Check out our video of La Sabana and if you got an hour or two we would recommend a stroll through the park. We would also recommend you leave this park before dusk and AVOID it all together during the night time hours when the sketchier characters of San Jose come out to play… and they don’t seem interested in a pick-up game of soccer.
