Surfing Pavones Costa Rica. Located in the South Pacific Pavones is considered by many as one of the top 10 surfing spots in the World! This beautiful little beach of Pavones, is situated approximately 15 kilometers south of Playa Zancudo in the deep south of Costa Rica. It is a haven for surfers as it offers some of the best surfing conditions in the country. Not only is the surfing here great but there are plenty of activities for the non-surfer too including horseback riding, kite surfing and sport fishing. The mile long beach is perfect for strolling along or to just sit back and enjoy the sun. The scenery here is breathtaking and it is a perfect place for a vacation. For those surfers wanting to catch some world class action, then Pavones is a perfect destination. The best waves here are during April to October which is the rainy season but it is then that they hold their shapes with amazing point breaks which peak on the left. Extremely long rides here of up to 500 meters and over attract many surfers who flock here to catch these superb waves. What’s up guys, it’s a beautiful morning here in Costa Rica. How are you doing today? My name is Bill, I’m down here in Jaco Beach and it’s absolutely incredible. I’ve worked with surf camps and surf organizations, teaching in schools and surfing around the world over the past 15 years and I’ve landed myself in Costa Rica and this is absolutely the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen- to learn how to surf or to score some perfect waves. The potential here is like nowhere else around the whole world. Now, people always ask the same questions over and over about surf trips, surf tours, surf lessons in Costa Rica- so before you guys come down here, I’m going to answer some frequently asked questions we get on a daily basis.
One of the major questions we get is “What is the best time to come to Costa Rica for a surf trip?” And the answer is, honestly, whenever you’re free whenever to get out of work or you don’t have anything else to do- the waves are pumping in Costa Rica pretty much year round. If you want little rain we’d recommend between November and mid April (the dry season) After that we go back into the green season and it does rain a lot, but doesn’t really affect the waves that much. Regardless, if you want some nice calm, mellow, clear blue water November to mid April is perfect. There’s always waves in Costa Rica-I grew up in Southern California these waves blow there out of the water: it’s glassy, 3 to 5 foot, and un-crowded every day. I just surfed this morning- it was seven foot tubing beach break in Playa Hermosa and only two guys out. So whenever you guys have a time, that’s the time you come to Costa Rica.

Can you imagine hiking around volcanoes, taking a dip in hot springs, horseback riding and snorkeling all in a tropical paradise setting? All of this kind of sounds like some kind of fantastic vacation, if only it could be true! Ah, but it can be everything it sounds like and more, when you attend the Costa Rica surf school. You have it right, just take a trip to Montezuma, Costa Rica at the La Escuela Del Sol School where you can learn to surf like a pro in the sun! When you’re not learning to surf you can spend time exploring caves, hiking, combing beaches in ATV’s, admiring natures waterfalls or learning what real tropical rain forests are all about. The La Escuela Del Sol School not only offers classes in surfing, but they also provide training in yoga, fire dancing, Spanish and scuba diving. They have an assortment of classes in different packages where you can pair up a couple of subjects together. It is up to you how long you wish to schedule your studies at the Costa Rica surf school. You can book your trip for as little as one week, on up to four weeks long. Students find that they can learn a lot, make new friends and have a great time when they are enrolled at the La Escuela Del Sol School. It’s no accident that this school offers surfing lessons, because it has some of the finest waves possible. You can enroll as a beginner, intermediate or as an advanced surfer, so everybody can learn the skills they need to for the next level. The instructors determine what locations for surfing are appropriate for your skill level, keeping safety in mind. You can expect about two hours of surf training for beginners every day, Monday through Friday depending on your endurance abilities. You’ll notice this leaves a good portion of the day and weekends free for your other vacation activities. Beginners always surf at the Playa Grande, which is a local beach within walking distance of the school. You will find that the beaches are very private and uncrowned, affording you ample opportunities to easily learn your surfing skills while attending the Costa Rica surf school. Beginners and intermediates learn how to read the waves, paddling techniques and gaining balance control. Mauricio is the instructor and guide for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surfing schedule will take you to one of five different locations by way of a jeep to find the best possible break. Class sizes are kept to a bare minimum to assure you of expert training and critiquing, while you further enhance your skills.
