PETOSKEY, HARBOR SPRINGS AND CHARLEVOIX, MICHIGAN AND WAITSFIELD, VERMONT…

Resort Maps, creator of 98 customized travel maps across the United States, England, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico, recently announced Traverse City residents Rob and Sue Wallace as the new owners of the new map to be published for The Petoskey Area of Michigan. The map will include the towns of Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix.

Resort Maps are colorful, hand-drawn maps of towns and cities, distributed free to area visitors at rest and travel information areas as well by advertisers. The Best of the Petoskey Area Map will highlight local attractions, restaurants, accommodations, retail shops, marinas, real estate and other services in all three towns. Each advertiser on the map will be represented with a display ad surrounding the perimeter of the map, including a color-coded grid locator and their actual building drawn, highlighted and labeled, making it easy to locate.

“I first started coming to this area for ice boating, which is a hobby of mine” said Wallace. “The Petoskey, Harbor Springs-Charlevoix area is just incredibly beautiful. It really is a place you have to see to appreciate. With our new map, we’re hoping to help tourists and residents find those hidden treasures and charming businesses that make up the area. ”
Prior to owning a Resort Maps franchise, Wallace worked as an IT professional for the past three decades for Broadview Savings and Loan and National Citibank. Rob left Citibank after there was a merger, and he and his wife relocated to Traverse City. After seeing the Best of Traverse City map and learning more about the Resort Maps opportunity, he knew the perfect place to start a map.
“There’s not a brochure out there that can accurately depict the Petoskey-Harbor Springs-Charlevoix area. With our new map, we’re going to try,” said Wallace.
The Best of The Petoskey Area map will offer a treasure trove of things to do for people vacationing in the area or just down for a day or two. Resort Maps free ‘souvenir style’ maps will be on display at local advertisers’ shops but also at many non-advertiser locations throughout the Petoskey-Harbor Springs-Charlevoix region.
The Petoskey Area map will also be available on-line at resortmaps. com along with interactive maps to all 98 Resort Maps. These interactive maps allow the viewer to read a description of each business as they scroll over each building and to connect to the website of the business for further information.

For information on how to advertise on the first edition of The Best of Petoskey Area Resort Map Michigan, you can e-mail Rob Wallace at robw@resortmaps. com.

I am going to do a work exchange program on a coffee farm in either Costa Rica or Hawaii, but I can’t decide which! When not working, I’ll be exploring, and I’m just wondering which would be better for a female traveling alone. My Spanish is decent. The towns are Sarchi (CR) and Captain Cook (Kona, Hawaii). If you’ve spent time in either, I’d love to hear your opinion. Thanks!
Oh, and it would be for at least a couple months

Travel to Costa Rica?

We are thinking of traveling to Costa Rica.. We are a family of three (with 10-year-old child). What places would you recommend? Is flying to San José (the capital) our best bet? If not, where else can we fly to? We want a beach (obviously, hehe), and some fun/interesting activities to do. Mommy (that’s me) is also interested in shopping! Recommendations/Suggestions/Input greatly appreciated!

Costa Rica Adventure Travel PackagesSan Jose is the capital city of Costa Rica and is conveniently located in the middle of the country, providing visitors with quick access to several of the country’s most well-liked activities. The city lies in the middle of the Meseta Central, or Central Valley, and enjoys a pleasant climate year round with temperatures that have a tendency to hover around seventy degrees Fahrenheit. History & CultureThanks to its central location and its standing as the capital town, San Jose and the encircling valley is home to over 2 3rds of the state’s whole population. The city also hosts a global airfield, as well as universities, major surgeries, and commercial complexes. Lodging & DiningIf you are looking to be close to all the capital city has to supply, then you are going to adore Hotel Grano de Oro or Hotel Alta. Both of these luxurious hotels offer famous restaurants of their own, and are within close proximity to all the culture, nightlife, and dining found in San Jose. If tranquility is what you seek, but you would like to use the conveniences of the town, then try Vista del Valle, El Silencio Lodge & Spa, Peace Lodge, or Xandari. As this area is home to the capital city of San Jose, you will find no lack of great restaurants featuring local and world cuisine. If you are staying close to the downtown area, try Bakea, an international/fusion eaterie in a restored mansion. This popular choice features creative cuisine and delicious desserts. San Jose boasts a number of tiny cafeterias offering lighter fare and less expensive costs. Some of the best of these include Café Moro and Café Mundo. Also, do not miss El Balcón de Europa, one of San Jose’s oldest restaurants. For meals with an ethnic twist, try the Tin Jo for Asian food, Vishnu for Indian/vegetarian, Machu Picchu for Peruvian, Lubnan for Middle Eastern, or Le Monastere for upscale French cuisine. ActivitiesFrom this central area, you can experience all the best that Costa Rica has to supply thru a number of thrilling tours that depart daily from the local hostels. You may need to begin with a tour of San Jose itself or visit the nearby historic cities of Sarchi and Grecia. History buffs will also love a visit to the Pueblo Antiguo Experience which transports visitors back to the Costa Rica of the early 1900’s. Proceeds from this insightful attraction benefit the Costa Rican Countrywide Kids’s Hospital. Many visitors come to Costa Rica to see volcanoes and looking for costa rica adventure travel packages, and tours to Poás and Irazu are an option from San Jose and can be included with other tours of the area. Are you a coffee fan? Then try a tour of the Café Britt Plantation or the Doka Estate where you will follow the life of a bean from being picked all the way to your mug. Scenic tours of the Orosi Valley and the Lankester Orchid Gardens are a great way to soak in the lush landscape of this pretty country. Adventurous souls will find plenty to do too. Experience the buzz of white water rafting, or soar through the jungle on monumental cover tours. Horseback rides and hiking are other great ways to experience the area while staying a little closer to solid ground. Cruising tours to wonderful beaches can also be arranged if the sea is calling your name. Other sites worth checking out:Costa Rica Adventure Travel Packages
