Costa Rica Travel and Vacation
Visitor Information
Okay, I’ve posted a few questions here today and so far I’ve made up my mind as to what I want to do in Costa Rica. Since my travel time is rather limited – 5 days. I would like to see the best rainforest if possible, and to join a fishing trip. Can anyone tell me where I can get the best deal on both and where to stay. My main concern is my budget. I’ve looked into a few CR fishing trips and they cost a ton, somewhere in the $700 USD range? This is outragously high! Is this possible? I’m not looking into something fancy at all just a ordinary fishing trip. So to sum it all up, where I should stay to cut down my travel time and at the same time be able to do both and still have time to see more? How far is San jose to Quepos? I’ve found tons of great hotel deal in San Jose but don’t know how difficult to go from SJ to Quepos. Some day Quepos is the best and SJ for more for business travelers? I have 5 days 4 night. Please help!

Trip to Costa Rica near Jaco in the Los Suenos Resort & Marina. I love this area and would go back in a heartbeat!
I found out about a wildlife sancuary in costa rica that I absolutely want to volunteer at. however, I dont have much money, and i would have to pay for plane tickets, lodging, and food. all of the grant information i can find is only for particular organizations, and this one is smaller so there arent any grants that are specific to it.

a DVD made by Gian Bendana commemorating his June, 2006 trip to Germany on the occasion of the match with Costa Rica
Im 16 and go to a Catholic high school, and i need service hours in the summer, and i think it would be a great oppurtunity to go on this trip, http://www.rusticpathways.com/2008/costarica/cbc.html. i think my mom thinks its too much money, it is 1900 dollars, but i think it would be a great oppurtunity to help out the less fortunate in this world, and at the same time, have a fun experience, with a couple ah my frens. what do i tell her, so that she mite let me go? i am willing to pay for some of it, but i dont have that much money…
(also, whats the drinking age, etc.?)
I’m going down to Costa on a surf trip in early October, and am wondering about getting a boat to take me fishing while I’m there.
Most likely I’ll be in Pavones / Matapalo, but might end up in Hermosa or Playa Negra… answers from people with experience in Pavones area would be most helpful.
Does anyone have experience getting a fishing boat? I’d rather not pay a thousand bucks to have some fancy charter boat take me out — I heard that you can haggle with locals to take you out in search of some dolphin or tuna or even bluewater striking fish. As long as we can get out there and do some fishing (maybe some drinking) and have a good time, I’d be happy.
Has anyone done this, and if so, what kind of price should I be aiming for (will be split among myself and two friends)? Also, I’m not familiar with central american fishing and don’t know what kind of fish are in season in October.
WAITSFIELD, VERMONTâ¦
Resort Maps, creator of more than 90 customized travel maps across the United States, England, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico, recently announced the launch of its “Best Worst Trip” contest.
Starting March 15, members of the general public can submit their worst travel story in 200 words or less to Resort Maps, with entries being accepted up until May 1. Then, a team of judges, comprised of Resort Maps staff and travel journalists, will select the best “worst vacation story”. Â The grand prize is a $100 American Express gift certificate.
“When reflecting on vacations both as kids and as adults, it’s human nature that the ones that come to mind first aren’t the ones that went off without a hitch, but the one where the car broke or somebody got sick, or some other calamity,” said Peter Hans, president of Resort Maps Franchise, Inc. “With this contest, we’re looking to see who out there has the worst story and to see if by our small gesture of an American Express gift certificate can take the sting out of that memory. ”
Anybody 18 years of age or older is eligible to participate. Entries can be submitted online by visiting Resort Maps’ Web site at www. resortmaps. com or by e-mailing info@resortmaps. com. You can also send your entry to Worst Trip, c/o Resort Maps Franchise, Inc. , 5197 Main Street, Suite 8, Waitsfield, VTÂ 05673. All entries must be 200 words or less to be considered and must include your name, address, phone number and e-mail. You can submit your story with photo to improve your case.
“At Resort Maps, we have a philosophy that the journey can be every bit as memorable as the end destination,” said Hans. “Unexpected delays along the way or âbumps’ along the road may leave an everlasting imprint on a traveler’s memory. Â Even though this contest is about people’s worst trips, I’m sure when most people look back on their worst trips it’s with a smileâmainly because they survived and it’s overâbut with a smile nonetheless. ”
Resort Maps are colorful, hand-drawn maps of resort towns and cities. Free to area visitors, each map advertises restaurants, accommodations, retail stores, factory outlets, recreation and attractions, real estate and other local services. Each advertiser is represented with a display ad surrounding the map, including a color-coded grid locator and a building drawn, highlighted and labeled making it easy to locate. With landmarks prominently displayed, Resort Maps are an easy and fun way to find your way around town whether you are visiting, new to the area or you just want to know what’s happening around your town.
